This is how I feel today, well...sorta kinda. My life has been so crazy busy lately that I feel like I have lost some of my blogging MoJo. It has been like two weeks since my last post. *Gasp!*clutching the pearls*

I don't know why this is happening to me. It just doesn't seem like I have anything blog worthy these days, at least not very positive to speak on/ write about. I don't want to be that blogger that is always writing about something negative. So when I can't write positively or in a way that makes my readers smile, reflect or motivate then I just don't write.

There isn't really anything "negative" going on in my life right now. However it is very busy these days and I just can't find the creativity in it. Does that make sense? Sorry if it doesn't...one of those things.

On the up side, I guess I can tell you that we have been prepping for our big move next week. The prepping isn't so up, but the end result is fab' and I am so looking forward to it.
New home= New start.

My dog Isabelle has created a new scandal....I think I may share that tomorrow for my "OH NO SHE DIDN'T !" Tuesday post, she really did it this time!

STAY TUNED.

A Hiking I will go!!

Can I just say that this girl is wo' out and fit to be ti'ed?! I have been getting my exercise on these last few weeks. Nothing too fancy (figures right?), but just staying very mobile. I have been walking on the Silver Comet Trail and hiking up and down Kennesaw mountain. Six miles on the trail and two miles on the mountain, twice a week. WHEW!! You should'a seen me walking around when I was done with my walks and hikes...wobbly, limping and a really, really sore butt! (I know, TMI but it's was sore!). I actually really enjoy the walking and hiking because I am out in nature and I LOVE nature. It gives me the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of creation and give praise to the Creator. So I feel like right now this is the best form of workout for me. I will be including some other movement, such as Zumba which I have mentioned in a previous post. I may not necessarily lose weight but I will definitely be toning up and losing some inches, while increasing my stamina.

FINE BY ME

I've posted several times about my struggle with maintaining my weight and healthy eating habits. I think that I have just concluded to just do the best that I can do right now, and enjoy myself as I go along. I can do that, 'cause I'm cool like that....*smile*wink*

The runaway bride...err, um, couple!

I am a firm believer in stealing away time to connect with my honey. Sometimes we find creative and fun ways, times of which are planned and others that are not so planned.

This weekend was a not so planned date. We ran away *giggle*giggle, to have breakfast together without the kids. It was VERY unplanned, we were supposed to be just picking up an item from the corner store and somehow we wound up in front of the corner Huddle House. We were kinda hungry, the kids could just eat cereal right? For 45 minutes it was just he and I eating, laughing, talking and connecting. And I could swear that all eyes were on us, the lovely couple whose love was shining brighter than the morning sun.

Do you have planned times to connect with your honey? Or do you have to sort of run away? If so, please share, I'd love to hear your story...

Not so wordless Wednesday: If the shoe fits, WEAR IT! Or maybe NOT.

Yeah....I know it looks bad. I promise I did not knowingly send my child to school with these shoes on. I happened to look down when she came home and this is what I saw. She has plenty of other shoes to wear but she likes these...

All I could do is shake my head and imagine the teachers at school thinking "what kind of mother does she have?" ....Don't answer that! *wink*wink*

Has this ever happened to you? Please leave a comment to pull this sistah outta the
mommy- is- somewhere- in- la-la- land blues.

check me out!

Something New! What do ya think?

From trashy to.....?

We are in the process of packing up and moving to our new home next month. We have a lot of stuff that needs to be sorted out and thrown away, particularly in our garage. Our garage has become the place were all things go to die and then reincarnate themselves. By my own admission it is filthy and will require a few weeks to clear it out. (don't judge me)

Well this weekend my hubby decides that he will tackle the job....Hurray! right? Wrong! He spent two hours clearing and sweeping up the mess. I thought he had done a good phase one job, until I went outside and saw that he cleared up the mess INSIDE only to make one OUTSIDE. The crap was loaded up on the back of the pickup and piled high. When I asked him what time was he planning on dropping of the load at the dump he says "oh I'll do it next week."

Aaarrrrrggggghhhhh! Well at least it's out of my garage right?

One of the great one's

Yesterday we lost an amazing woman in music and entertainment, Lena Horne died at the age of 92. She sang a tune with her own flavor. Her eyes came alive as she sang a song with passion, excitement and a certain savvy that seems to have been lost in days of old. My first encounter with Mrs. Horne was in elementary school when I had to do a book report on her for Black History Month. It was during this time that I truly admired her beauty, her style and her professionalism in a business that was not always accepting and often contradictory. Although during the Cotton Club's peak years, people of color were not allowed to patronize the club, but only allowed to serve and provide entertainment, I fell in love with the thoughts of her performing at the Harlem Cotton Club in the 1930's. Imagining that my grandfather was in the audience, captivated by her voice. Over the years, I have seen her periodically on television shows such as, Sesame Street, Sanford and son, The Cosby Show and A different World. With over 30 albums to her credit, the singers and entertainment of the 21st century have a lot to learn, and beautiful high heeled shoes to fill.

Up, up, and away!

When I was a little girl, I have vivid memories of going to the park with my mom for an afternoon picnic with fun games, people watching and kite flying. Now, we were not expert kite fliers by any means. However we enjoyed the challenge of trying to get the kite up in the air and to stay there. We would laugh with such amazement and watched with so much anticipation as the kite would ride the wind, ebbing high and low, flipping n' flopping in the great blue sky! It was great family time.

I have on an occasion or two tried to pass on this fun activity with my children, but have not been too successful. I'm still intrigued when I see others at the park doing it, so I am very happy to know that Georgia will be having it's very first kite festival! On May 15Th at the Centennial Olympic Park from 11am -7pm, Humana, The Atlanta Braves and The American Kitefliers association will partner together to introduce this event to the city. Through a program called kites for kids, there will be volunteers working with patients of Scottish Rite Hospital to design beautiful kites that will be on display and for sale during the festival. All of the proceeds from the sales will be given to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be much for the whole family to enjoy; face painting, music, inflatables and kite decorating along with a wide variety of vendors. I will be there with a smile on my face, along with other bloggers such as Jennifer of mami2mommy. I hope we see you there, be sure to stop by the table and say "hi!".

1 and 2 and 3 and 4, get my work out on ya'll!

I am still feeling high from the endorphins that were released while I worked it out at World Fitness Day at the Georgia Dome. Along with hundreds of men, women, children and I worked up a sweat with Billy Blanks. Mr. Taebo himself ! I was actually able to keep up even though I have not worked out on that pace and level in a long time.

I must admit that when Mrs. Debbie Allen came out I was in awe. She lead us in a Salsa exercise routine that was so much fun yet very effective. I did not even feel like I was working out, I felt free and light. I think I could have cha-cha-cha'ed and spinned and twirled all day!

Now what can I say about Mr. Richard Simmons? He is SUCH a DIVA and that's all I need to say. Moving on! ;)

Every one that lead us into a routine was awesome, the energy that filled the dome was so high I wish I could have bottled it up and took it home. We were all there for one cause, one purpose and that is to get fit and be healthy! We all were on different levels of fitness but it did not matter. There was no intimidation, just love. It was great. I am so looking forward to going again next year. This gave me the nudge that I needed to really go the next step with my work out, *AHEM!* lack of work out.

Here are some pics of me and a few fellow bloggers working it out. Awesome!

We were gettin' low with Luda on the field! *I still got my eye open for those bribe photos of Akilah, Denene, Lauren, Jennifer and I trying show how low we could go! *

After the show we posed together for a blogger photo op.

The Pointer Sisters reminded us why we were so excited when they came on the stage. They can work the crowd! Did you know that they had the most used songs for work out videos in the eighties? Hmph! an interesting fact.

To be 72 years old, Miss Jane Fonda looks amazing. What a trailblazer in the world of health and fitness!

Herrrrrrrrrrrrrre's Richard! Lol, such a Diva!

Here is Chante' working it out with Billy Blanks, She was so pumped!

Jennifer, Krystal and Denene were focused!

ARE YOU MOTIVATED NOW?

And They Call It Puppy Love

Meet the new addition to our family. Her name is Tracy and she is a 4 year old terrier mix. I know what you are thinking..."What are you doing with another dog Sandra? You can barely deal with that crazy 1 yr old pit bull mix, Isabelle!"

This is true, indeed. However I just could not resist her sweetness. Plus she is already house trained, very, very mild tempered and obedient. She is just like a baby (hint, hint), she loves to be held and really appreciates a good belly rub. Maybe I'm just a sucker, Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, MAYBE I JUST GOT A LOTTA LOVE TO GIVE.
In any case....have mercy!
